Professor Olubukola Adedeji joined the services of the Obafemi Awolowo University as a Graduate Assistant on the 16 th of May, 1995 in the Department of Botany, and was pronounced Professor in 2011. Her area of specialization is plant taxonomy and she uses other areas such as plant morphology, anatomy, palynology etc. to make taxonomic deductions. She has published many original research articles both internationally and nationally in her area of specialization. She has taught many courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and has supervised many undergraduate and postgraduate (Masters and PhD) project works. She is a member of many professional bodies both nationally and internationally. In the year 2000, she won the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst (DAAD) scholarship to Germany and participated in the postgraduate research and study programme of “ifu” at several locations. She was later selected for Executive Education on Global Leadership (female leadership training) by the United States of America and was trained at Harvard Business School, Boston Massachusetts, the United States of America (March 2009) and at the Judge Business School, Cambridge, the United Kingdom (June 2009).

Professor O. Adedeji has served the University in many Committees and Panels as a member and as Chairperson. She was a member of the Obafemi Awolowo University Governing Council from 2015 to January 2017. She was the first female acting Head of the Department of Botany from 2011 – 2013. She instituted the “Female Leadership Prize for the Best Female Graduating Student with Sterling Leadership Qualities in the Faculty of Science” in 2009 and the prize has been awarded every year during convocation since then.

Professor Olubukola Adedeji served as the first female Vice-Dean (2007-2010) and first female Dean of the Faculty of Science of the Obafemi Awolowo University from 1 st August 2017 to 31 st July 2019.
