Sekinat Okikiola Azeez (Nee Hassan) is currently a Reader (Associate Professor) in the Department of Botany, Faculty of Science, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. She obtained all her tertiary education at Obafemi Awolowo University, earning a First Class B.Sc. in Botany in 2006, an M.Sc. in 2011, and a PhD in Botany in 2016. Her academic career at the University has progressed steadily from Graduate Assistant in 2010 to Reader in 2023, and was complemented by a DBT-UNESCO-TWAS Postdoctoral Fellowship at the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, New Delhi, India, between 2022 and 2023. She has participated in nationally funded research projects, with research interests spanning genetic resources conservation and plant genetics. Numerous scholarships, academic awards, and extensive teaching responsibilities in genetics, cytogenetics, evolution, and botany-related entrepreneurship further distinguish her professional profile.
